Spring is coming to the Gardens. The gardeners are back and the volunteers have begun their work. It is with sadness we accepted the resignation of Trina Taylor, our long standing head gardener. Trina dedicated hours to make the Gardens the beautiful place they are today. She was instrumental in leading many changes in our beds, incorporating many beautiful annual and perennial plantings. Her sense of placement for plants and colour made the the gardens a lovely patchwork of texture and colour. We wish Trina well.
We begin a new chapter; we had planned to have three gardeners this year and will begin with only two while we advertise for a new full-time gardener. Rebecca and Matt will share the responsibility of spring cleanup and growing our plants in the greenhouse for our spring sale and the Gardens. They will be assisted by our dedicated volunteers. We are so extremely fortunate to have so many caring and experienced volunteers who have returned to work with their teams. We welcome new volunteers who are joining us and hope you will enjoy being part of one of our teams that “Keep the Gardens Growing”.
When I’m asked why I am happy to dedicate hours to our society my answer is always "I enjoy being with “grounded” people who are wonderful to work with."
